At Your Service

Priority boarding. A private lounge. A butler who unpacks your cases, serves canapés at sunset and books your table. Suite cruising on today’s ships is a world apart from a standard cabin — and on many lines it is a complete “ship within a ship”. Cruise Butler explains what each line offers and how to choose.

Butler & Suite Questions

Which cruise lines have butlers?

On mainstream lines, butler service usually comes with the top suite tiers: for example NCL’s The Haven, MSC’s Yacht Club, Royal Caribbean’s Star Class and Cunard’s Queens Grill. On luxury lines, Silversea includes a butler in every suite, and Regent and Oceania include butlers in their higher suite categories.

What is a “ship within a ship”?

A private, key-card-access area on a large ship for suite guests only, with its own lounge, restaurant, pool or sundeck, and dedicated staff. You get the quiet of a small luxury ship with the entertainment of a big one.

Is butler service included in the suite price?

Yes, where it comes with the suite. Gratuities for butlers are usually covered by the service charge or included; some guests add a personal thank-you.
